Why we built Orson by siasola
Orson is the crew management platform I built for film and TV production in Quebec. Working with production professionals in Montreal, I kept seeing the same problems I had spent my career solving as an ML-AI engineer and data analyst: crew details in one place, call sheets in another, compliance documents buried in email, and budgets tracked in spreadsheets nobody trusted to be current.
Film production in Quebec adds layers that generic tools do not handle. ARRQ and AQTIS union rules, Quebec Law 25 privacy requirements, and Canadian tax forms like the TD1 and TP1015: the coordination demands are enormous and the stakes are real. One missed document or compliance requirement can hold up a production.
I teamed up with a Sundance Film Festival award-winning producer to build Orson together. His deep industry expertise combined with my background in AI engineering and data systems means the platform is shaped by how Quebec productions actually run, not by how software companies imagine they run.
Orson is now in early access. Crew onboard themselves through a QR code or email invite, upload their Quebec documents, and appear on a live readiness dashboard. Call sheets go out with read confirmations, schedules span multiple shoots, logistics stay coordinated, and union budgets, invoices, and timesheets sit alongside Law 25 consent, audit logs, and encrypted crew data. It is French-first and bilingual, all in one secure platform for Quebec film and TV production.
